Someone linked me to this video {worksafe, audio, cool beans} on TED.
His SixthSense technology is totally awesome and it's actually some of the first new tech that I've looked at and thought, "Wow. I really want that." It's truly innovative, and exactly the kind of thing that I've been wishing I had access to.
If he actually makes it open source, I'd build a device for it. OMG, hell yes.

Seen that back a the beginning of the year.
I think a speed isue was being discussed for quicker pickup form the camera for something that would give a voice to def people a well. It should read their signs, and translate to spoken word so they could better communicate with the rest of the world, if only in a computer generated voice.
The whole thing reminded me of Johnny Mnemonic.
